Most people only recognize the AAA logo as being automotive insurance and roadside towing security but they also offer AAA branded credit cards. The AAA Credit Card is a product of the Bank of America. The cards are issued to members of AAA upon application and approval of credit. This card does not carry an annual fee but there are other fees very similar to other credit cards. They do offer 0% liability on proven fraud charges.

AAA Credit Card Penalty Fees

There is a $15 fee for late payments on amounts equal to or less than $100. A $29 penalty fee is charged when the balance on the account amounts to from $100.01 to $250. The penalty fee on a balance over $250 is $39. Their returned payment fee is $35.

AAA Annual Percentage Rates

There is a 2.99% introductory APR for the first 12 statements. After that the APRs run from 11.99% to $29. The APR for cash advances is 24.24%. The APRs on most accounts may run about the same but it’s good to be diligent in researching the different accounts so that you will make the right choices. Choosing the right card for you and your family or your business can be an asset rather than a liability.

AAA Credit Cards Available

There are several types of AAA credit cards available. The Rewards American Express offers one point for every dollar in purchases and a 2% discount on travel purchases. The Cost Rewards Master Card offers a 1% cash reward for purchases, a 2% discount on travel purchases, plus 2% cash back on insurance purchases. The Diamond Advantage Visa offers a 3% rebate on gas purchases, a 2% discount on travel, a one point credit for every dollar in purchases and a $50 reward voucher when you reach five thousand points.

APR’s and points remain about the same for all credit cards with AAA. Whether or not a person needs the travel vouchers and so forth is entirely a personal choice.

Selecting a card and using it for only business expenses is a great time saver in having correct records when you file your taxes.

Do not get this card. The service is horrible. You will charged late payments every month due to a rather unusual accounting practises.

I closed my account on Apr. 30 and paid in full the amount I was told to pay. I later received an invoice that included the late charges for an outstanding balance.

I was never given a satisfactory explanation for how I could have outstanding balance on a closed account.
