AARP Credit Card APR’s

The AARP credit card has a 0% fixed APR for the first 6 monthly billing cycles and then after the first 6 months it maintains a 7.27%, 11.24%, or an 18.24% variable APR (all contingent upon a review of your AARP credit card application and a review of your credit score).

The AARP cash advance APR is 19.24%, the default APR is 29.99%, and the overdraft advance APR is 13.99% fixed (although this rate can vary from state to state).

Additionally, some of the APR’s may vary from month to month depending on the change in the Prime Rate (called a variable rate) including the purchase and balance transfer APR which is the Prime Rate plus, as applicable 3.99%, 7.99%, or 14.99% for outstanding and new balances after the introductory period, the cash advance APR which is the Prime Rate plus 15.99%, and the default APR which is the Prime Rate plus up to 26.99% but capped out at 29.99%.

The AARP Platinum Visa credit card does offer balance transfers that are eligible for the special introductory 0% rate for 6 months although the balance transfer fee is 3% of the total amount transferred with a minimum balance transfer charge of $10.
