American University MasterCard Perks
Because this is a student credit card, the issuer is lenient about credit ratings. Consumers that have recently been turned down for a different credit card usually find that they are able to be approved for the American University MasterCard. All qualifying transactions automatically go towards earning WorldPoints. New cardholders get 0% APR for either 7 or 10 months, depending on when and how they applied.
American University cardholders pay a maximum of 20.99% interest. Those with exceptional credit ratings can pay as low at 12.99% APR. One of the biggest benefits of applying for this credit card is the fact that Bank of America donates money to the American University Alumni Association for every purchase made.
American University MasterCard Fees
Late payments made on American University Platinum Plus MasterCard accounts can be charged up to $35 in fees. When used outside of the United States, Bank of America charges a 3% foreign currency-processing fee. On the other hand, cardholders that consistently make late payments will not be assessed a penalty interest rate on their accounts.
Cardholders have at least 25 days between billing statements to make their payments before being charged interest. American University Platinum Plus Mastercard customers can use their WorldPoints accounts to get access to concert tickets, gift certificates and purchases vacations. Points earned via this program can be saved for as long as they maintain accounts in good standing.
