Because of this, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of this card carefully, especially in comparison to other credit cards that you might choose instead.

What follows should give you enough information to make a good start in your process of choosing a credit card and then after reading through this Cabela’s credit card review be sure to use the free credit card finder tool to find and compare credit cards!

Cabela’s Credit Card Rewards

The Cabela’s card encourages you to make purchases at Cabela’s. If you do this often, you may find that this card is a good deal. Every time you spend a dollar at Cabela’s using this card, you will receive two points.

Additionally, you receive 1,000 points simply for signing up. As long as your account remains in good standing, your points can accumulate forever until you wish to spend them.

There are a variety of ways you can do this, all of which relate to Cabela’s. If you are shopping at Cabela’s often, this is a particularly good deal (of course there are many other cash back credit cards with better rewards programs that offer rewards for shopping almost anywhere and not just Cabela’s).

Other Cabela’s Credit Card Features

The Cabela’s card has an APR of 9.99% for purchases at Cabela’s. For other purchases, the rate will vary. The lowest rate you can receive using this card is 12.99%, which is lower than some cards, and higher than others.

The Cabela’s card charges no annual fee, but charges fees for cash advance, going over the credit limit, and late payments. It has a minimum finance charge of $0.50. Unlike many credit cards, it does not have a lower APR for an introductory period.

Comparison

This card may not be as good of a deal as it might first seem once compared to similar cards. For example, using a Discover card like the Discover More Card can get you a 5% rebate on purchases from Cabela’s. Additionally, this card also gives you special rebates at many other locations. Because of this, it may be a much better deal for you, particularly if you qualify for comparable or lower rates.

Further Information

Because of this, it is very important to find out as much as you can about both this card and its competitors. Once you do this, compare the benefits you will receive with your shopping habits by using our cash back credit card calculator.

You should be able to get a fairly accurate estimate of the money you will save with each individual credit card, which will give you enough information to decide which card gives you the best deal as objectively as possible.

Cabelas Club Visa, offered by World’s Foremost Bank, was great in the good times. A nice large limit (which I paid off entirely every month), easy spending of points, and an overall quality experience. As soon as the credit difficulties in the country ensued, I get a letter from Cabelas which lowered my limits by 80%, with the explanation that my “credit had dropped significantly”. So of course I panic, pull my credit report, and all is perfectly fine.

I call them to exclaim their data was false and absolute rudeness was returned.

    So I’m finished with them.

Cabelas Club Visa – not a good representation of the kind of service I’ve come to expect from Cabelas. The “Worlds Foremost Bank” has some extremely poor ways of showing customer appreciation. My credit limit is about a third of what they originally set. No decrease in my credit score, just some automated system lowering my credit limit – now twice. Never missed a payment, spent a LOT of money with Cabelas as usual. When I contacted CABELAS they transferred me to the Bank, had a two-way conversation about “this guy” when I was on the line and they didn’t realize it. After they got done..I asked if they were finished (could have heard a pin drop). Was ultimately treated rudely as others have been – was told they have a right to do this any time they wish. Asked if I wanted to close the account. Wow….”Worlds Foremost Bank” – what a crock of crap. I’m taking my business elsewhere if they don’t resolve this. I’ve been a customer of Cabelas for over 30 years and spend thousands every year with them. They need to get re-connected with their customers and quit acting like the huge conglomerate that they now are!!!! FAIL!!!!

Poor customer service. Made 2 payments in one month, the 2nd was for the next months statement but it was posted before the closing date so I incurred a late fee (my first one) the following month. Explained what happend, would not wave fee. Paid off balance over phone then closed account, then they were more than happy to wave fee. No thanks.
Does not work well with financial software, Quicken would always have to make a .10 or .17 adjustment when reconciling. Never figured out what the deal was with that.
Only plus is if you shop cabelas enough to benifit from the club points

This is probably the worst credit card I’ve ever had. I sent them a check to pay a bill in full for $XX and they cashed it for $Y, much less. Then they called me to demand payment! Told me there would be a late charge, interest fees, etc. I pointed out that they made the mistake and the guy agreed that he could see the image of the check but that I had to pay the balance over the phone right then and there! I of course fought back and got him to promise me a new statement with the balance and no charges. They called back a week later and demanded payment again! Again they promised a new statement and no charges. A few days later I check my checking account and they went back and re-cashed the check for the remaining balance! Not a word to me! And let’s not forget that the customer service people acted like *I* was the one who had done something wrong. This may be the worst customer experience I’ve ever had. Cabela’s you’ve just lost a credit card customer and I’ll never shop at your stores again!

Customer service is a nightmare! This bank is after the interest fees and late fees! Paying off the balance in full is a problem, they will find a way to make you pay! Buyer beware!

Awful card. I spend a lot and travel everywhere. Every time I am at a location somewhere in North America, they refuse the payment. I have screamed at their fraud dept that I cannot call them once a day each time I travel to another city. They promised to put a permanent hold on refusing transactions, given my spend rate. I was at Brooks Brothers in NYC last week, and they refused the $400 charge. Embarrassing! So I called at the counter and they said there was fraud activity and connected me to the fraud dept. I was concerned and so asked where was the fraud activity located. They said, “just three minutes ago someone tried to charge $400 at brooks Brothers in NYC!” I said, that would be me. I said, “what else?” They said, “that was all.” I screamed at them again and they went back to review the promise I had received and said they had put it through and it had been refused, but they had failed to notify me. Someone followed up a few days ago and said exactly the following, “This card may not be for you. You travel and spend too much. We are more geared for the person who stays home and likes to shop at Cabelas.” So, I am canceling this card today.

I made a payment “one day too early”, and they have put my account in delinquent status and are now charging me late fees. After arguing with the customer representative for 30 minutes on the phone, my account is still delinquent. They claim there is no way to fix there computer system, and that I did not make my payment early, but instead paid extra on the previous month’s statement. The lady was extremely rude, and yes I got frustrated with her; but as a customer service rep, isn’t her job to make me a happy customer when I am obviously in the right? Do not use this credit card for anything ever!!

Cabella’s was the first company to offer me cfredit after bankruptcy. I just wanted the free hat. I have been with them for over 7 years. I use it a lot at Cabella’s but at other retailers as well. I have only had pleasant experiences. I had a problem with a late fee once, but after the explanation, they waived the fee and did not count it as a late payment. I switched from mailing the payment to phone check payments. In short, the Post Office is great, but not always timely.
