A debt is an amount owed for funds borrowed. Credit card debt can occur through use of the credit card, ATM cash withdrawal, or credit card convenience checks. Because credit card debt is unsecured debt, it usually comes with higher interest rates than other types of secured debt, such as a mortgage or auto loan.
