How to Join the Educational Community Credit Union
Unlike a bank, credit unions typically require their members to live or work in a certain area or for a certain company or industry to be eligible for membership. To join the Educational Community Credit Union, a member has to work in the educational industry in one of 21 qualifying counties in the state of Michigan.
The 21 eligible Michigan counties are:

- Kent
- Kalamazoo
- Jackson
- Ionia
- Ingham
- Hillsdale
- Gratiot
- Eaton
- Clinton
- Cass
- Calhoun
- Branch
- Berrien
- Barry
- Allegan
The members can work for private or public schools as well as be students, volunteers, retired from, and alumni of these schools. People that work for a Parent Teacher Association, daycare, or library are also eligible for membership. Any family member of an eligible member is also welcome to join the Educational Community Credit Union.
Terms of the ECCU MasterCard Credit Card
This Classic credit card offers the cardholder an annual percentage rate of 12.96% and no credit card annual fee. This card is also eligible to be enrolled in the ScoreCard rewards program. This program lets the cardholder earn rewards points that can be exchanged for travel discounts and merchandise.
