There have been a lot of acquisitions and mergers in the Gamestop world. There was a merger with Software Etc. in 1994, a significant merger with EB Games happened in 2005, in 2007 Rhino Video Games was acquired, and both Spawn Labs and Impulse were acquired in 2011.
In 2008, Gamestop acquired the Norway- based Free Record Shop adding more than 50 stores to their international total. In the same year, Gamestop purchased Micromania, the leading retailer of video games in France.
