Reward Opportunities with the eBay MasterCard

In addition to using the eBay MasterCard online for eBay purchases, you can also use it for everyday credit card purchases and earn rewards points for doing so. There are three different levels of bonus credit card reward points available to eBay MasterCard credit cardholders that depend on the type of purchase you make.

Surprisingly, the most reward points that you can receive come if you use your eBay MasterCard at a restaurant or for dining out. These purchases give you three points for every dollar spent. When you use your eBay card on eBay or on PayPal, you earn two points for every dollar spent. Finally, every other purchase with the eBay MasterCard earns one point for each dollar spent.

Benefits Available for Holders of the eBay MasterCard by GE Money Bank

In addition to the rewards program, other benefits to the eBay MasterCard include the ability to link your card with your eBay and PayPal accounts, 24/7 online access to your account, and complete credit card fraud and identity theft protection, as well as coverage if your card is used to make unauthorized credit card purchases.

You also get financial protection if you purchase an item on eBay and it does not arrive, as GE Money Bank will reimburse you the original purchase price plus shipping if it has been 60 days or more.

Hi, I applied for the Ebay mastercard earlier this morning, and the ad said I would have a 30 second decision, and it would be instantly linked to my Paypal account if I was approved… Well it never was, and now I’am going to miss out on a purchase that I wanted. Thanks

I acquired the Ebay MasterCard with the understanding I would get an immediate $30.00 off my first purchase. I did not. When I called customer service, they informed me that the $30.00 credit would appear by the third credit statement. It did not. I had to call them again and find out why. They did not know but applied the credit right then and there. I had two credit cards on Ebay to choose from to make payments on purchases, the Ebay Mastercard and a Visa. I wanted to use my Visa card for future purchases. I made a purchase but Ebay didn’t give me the option to choose which card I wanted to use and completed the transaction before I was actually ready to complete it. It ended up going on the mastercard. I then went into my account and changed the default payment method to my Visa. About a week later, I made another purchase on Ebay. For some reason, it still went on the MasterCard. I called them AGAIN and was told that even though their system showed my Visa was the default card, it went on the mastercard anyway and there was nothing they could do. At that point I also told them I wanted to use whatever amount of points I had to go on that purchase. I was told I had to accumulate a larger amount of points in order to use them. I got fed up with the crap and decided not to use the Ebay MasterCard anymore.

This card has always had the disadvantage that one point does NOT equal one penny. For example, a $15 gift certificate to Burger King requires 2500 points. This can be deceptive when they tell you that you get 3 points for dining out, or 2 points for purchases on eBay. The points also expire after two years, which for many people is not long enough to get enough points to redeem.

Now that Paypal has thoroughly messed up its website and it is no longer possible to reach your eBay Mastercard account by logging in to Paypal, it has also become nearly impossible to pay it. I used to log in to Paypal, click eBay Mastercard, and set up a payment in about 5 minutes. Since the Paypal website came to resemble a mobile app rather than a website, I have spent literally hours on the phone every month to pay it, trying to communicate with people who are obviously on the other side of the world. Most recently, they have started to charge a fee to pay by phone – which is not playing fair when they have made it impossible to make payments online!

I am going to stop using this card as soon as I redeem my current points – I have almost enough to redeem and don’t want to waste them. My advice if you don’t have this card is to leave it strictly alone. It has no advantages. Use a better card, such as Discover or Chase Freedom, for your Paypal payments.

Still waiting on 30.00 credit. I have contacted them three months in a row and they keep saying will be on next statement. Have not filed complaint with Dept of Consumer Fraud.
