The Habitat for Humanity WorldPoints Platinum Plus Visa Card was an affinity card issued by Bank of America to benefit Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing mission of providing affordable housing to lower-income Americans. The card has since been discontinued for new applicants.
Like most affinity cards, Bank of America made a standard donation to Habitat for Humanity for every new account that was approved and activated. Beyond that initial amount, an added donation was made as a percentage of the total net purchases made by card holders. Compare other credit card offers now!
The rewards credit card design was a simple one featuring both the Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity logos on the top, the Visa logo at bottom right, and a silver background.
Habitat for Humanity Credit Card Terms
New accounts with the Habitat for Humanity Visa were opened with 0% introductory fee good for the first twelve months. The introductory rate applied not only to purchases and balance transfers, but also to cash advance checks. The checks were subject to a 3% transaction fee. After twelve months, the card offered a modest 9.99% to 15.99% APR on all three transaction types. The introductory rate could be forfeited within the 12 month period by a late payment or exceeding the credit limit.
Habitat for Humanity Credit Card Rewards
As part of the WorldPoints program, card holders earned a single point for every dollar in net transactions. These dollars could be redeemed for no-blackout travel, like travel credit cards, gift certificates, merchandise, or cash back. As an added bonus, points could also be redeemed for exclusive Ultimate Access rewards.
Ultimate Access rewards included valuable collectible merchandise, exclusive events with celebrities and athletes, designer merchandise, and something the program billed as “once-in-a-lifetime experiences.” WorldPoints and Ultimate Access rewards were managed through a separate WorldPoints web account. There was no limit to the number of points one could earn, and the points had a five year expiration window. Rewards could be redeemed beginning at 2,500.
Habitat for Humanity Credit Card Platinum Benefits
Standard Visa Platinum benefits applied to this card. Such benefits included a minimum $5,000 credit limit, purchase protection, rental car collision coverage, travel accident insurance, emergency cash and card replacement, and 24-hour account access. Since this combination cash back credit card and reward credit card is no longer offered you will need to compare other online credit card offers to find one that works for you!
