JC Penney Credit Card The JC Penney Credit Card is a department store card offered by GE Money Bank. While this is a JC Penney card, you can also use this card at all CVS Pharmacies and Rite Aid Pharmacies. You can also use your JC Penney card at any JC Penney store, outlet and online.

Department store cards are notorious for having high interest rates and the JC Penney card is no exception. The starting rate for the JC Penney credit card is 26.99% with a penalty rate of over 30%. Because of the high interest rates, you will find that it is easier to get a JC Penney card with a poor credit score than other types of credit cards. Compare other retail credit card offers now!

The benefits of choosing a JC Penney Credit Card over a traditional card are few. The rewards credit card program is based on a monthly spending cycle. You must spend $250 a month to receive a reward, which is $10 off any purchase; this reward can only be collected once a month. Clearance prices and sales do not count towards your rewards earnings and your rewards points expire monthly.

JC Penney Credit Card Benefits

We have a nice income and perfect credit, but we were only granted a few hundred dollar credit limit when we applied for the JCPenney credit card. Then the bank expects you to bend over backwards to get a little increase in your credit line, but they clearly don’t expect you to use what you get. If you place a JCP order that they deem “large,” then they don’t want to approve the order because it seems “suspicious.” This card has proven to be a wasted pop against our credit report. So not worth it. There are much better ways to get discounts on the internet. Anyway, the JCP merchandise has fallen cheap to imported merchandise, defects, and poor workmanship. We will shop elsewhere and ditch the JPC card! I would NEVER let a balance go unpaid fully in one month, as the rates and fees are ridiculous. Customer service stinks, and rewards are low. Overall, a zero.

If you have a payment that’s late by 2 days, on an account that’s closed and all you’re doing is paying off the remaining balance, they will multiply your minimum monthly payment by 2 everyday (so if it’s normally $50, now it’s $100) for a week, then send you a letter saying you’ve been sent to collections. Do yourself a favor, shop at Macy’s instead.

Worst customer service ever, And don’t bother paying by phone! They neglected to document I’d called my payment in, and I was hit with a tripled bill this month. They also change the minimum payment without alerting you in any way. Such rude phone reps…. One man from the middle east screamed at me, another hardly understandable woman hung up on me and they still won’t correct their mistake. Get a card anywhere else, anywhere. I can’t wait to get this decadently decorated with some of the highest interest ever monkey of a card off my back!!!! One star was the lowest i could even rate this card… Even this system is fraudulent.

These people are thieves. Corporate thieves. Absolutely terrible. I got the card while I was working my way through college to start building up my credit score. I spent less than a 1/4 of the total credit amount, made sure to use the card at least twice a year for small purchases and to make more than the minimum payment. In July, I missed a month of payment due to family emergency but they didn’t bother to tell me. There was no e-mail, no phone call, no letter. Then when I go to pay in August, I’ve got doubled minimum payment due to late fees and two months worth of charge. I call them up and they tell me they can’t do anything so I grit my teeth, pull extra shifts and pay up.

Then in December, I’m late by four days to pay because I just graduated and am using my savings to pay while searching for FT employment. I call them up BEFORE my payment due date to let them know my situation and see what my options are. The representatives LIES to me about how he’ll put a “hold” on my account to prevent late fee charges; he tells me he “understands” my situation and that I won’t be penalized. What a load of rubbish. I’m penalized all right. Same situation as in August. Turns out I was charged a late fee and then refunded the same stupid late fee. Except the refund is credited to my balance and not my minimum payment. What sort of backwards BS is that??? The whole point of me calling was so I wouldn’t have an exorbitantly high minimum payment in the first place. I speak to three different representatives, get all their names down, and close my account. JCP can piss off. They’re sharks, the entire lot of them. I’ve noticed how they keep advertising these massive “sales” but really what they do is jack up the original price by 15% and then offer some BS 10% discount. The clothes are too expensive and tasteless. This is the worst card ever (especially for a starter trying to build credit) and I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. I’m never shopping at their store. They and their sales can burn and I wouldn’t spare the spit in my mouth to help them.
