The Mail or Phone Order business originated many decades ago, based on a need for consumers to buy goods in more remote locations. Large department stores distributed large catalogs so that customers who didn’t have a walk in store nearby could call or mail in orders from home.
Some form of credit card or money order payment was made with the order, and the goods were then shipped directly to the customer by mail.
With the advances into the Internet and Web Stores, virtually every type of store and merchandise is available by mail or phone order, or online order. It offers the consumer the ultimate convenience of being able to do much of their shopping from home, and a solid connection with the retailers.
