A reward credit card rewards the user of the card with incentives for making purchases with that credit card. Common rewards for a reward credit card include points, money, airline miles or other denominational values.
Points are probably the most common because they can be converted to many options. Some give you the options of converting the points to cash, while others offer gifts that each have a point value attached to it.
Every time you purchase an item, there are a certain amount of points per dollar that you will earn. These can then be redeemed once your points hit a certain minimum value. There are sometimes double points given on certain purchases such as on groceries or on gas. You cannot earn points on paying your monthly bill.
