“Thrift” is the practice of intelligently and safely managing financial and economical decisions. This can also be handled through a financial institution often a credit union, savings and loan, or savings bank. “Thrift bank” is also a common term used when referring to these institutions.
Example: When Tom’s debt got out of control, his credit union suggested some thrifty practices to get his finances back on track.
